2-storey building collapses in Jos

A section of a two-storey building on Sunday evening collapsed at Butcher line, Jos-north Local Government Area of Plateau State, where a three- storey building collapsed in July claiming12 lives.
Daily Trust gathered that there were no casualties from the incident which occurred a few minutes after 3pm.
This is the third building collapse in Jos-North Local Government Area in four months.
Three weeks ago, a section of a one-storey building collapsed at Unguwar Rogo, Jos-North, killing three persons while three others sustained injuries.
The owner of the latest building which collapsed at Butcher line, Alh. Muhammad Kyauta, told Daily Trust that he was grateful that no one was injured in the incident as members of his family were at another section of the house when it came down.
Malam Ibrahim Aliyu, whose house was squashed by the collapsed building, said a woman had been rushed to the hospital after her blood pressure rose as a result of trauma.
Aliyu said though the storey building collapsed on his home, no member of his family was injured.
Our correspondent reports that soon after the July incident that claimed 12 lives, Governor Simon Bako Lalong, issued directives to the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) to move from street to street with security agents to identify and mark for demolition, buildings not properly structured.
The directive was backed with an action two days later when the JMDB issued an eviction notice on a three story building and was quickly demolished the next day. Since then however, no demolition has taken place within the local government area.
